Age and Moisture
Most of the air conditioning system is made of metal parts, but the rest is made of rubber, which degrades faster due to heat and moisture. If the moisture enters the lines, it can travel into the refrigerant tank where they mix and turn into a type of acid, leading to further damage.
Electrical Issues
Your car A/C is made up of a complex system of electrical wires and sensors. If one part of the electrical system fails, it is designed to shut itself down to prevent further damage or potential harm to your repair technician. A bad sensor could also lead to a shut down even though a larger problem doesn’t exist.
Blocked or Broken Compressor
The compressor is one of the other most important parts of the air conditioning system; it’s what is responsible for pressurizing the A/C system and keeping the cooled refrigerant flowing. The compressor can also become blocked by items caught between it and the car’s grill.
